Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Where are you located?
I am based out of the Pikeville, Kentucky area, but I love to travel! My service area is not limited to Kentucky, in fact, I would be excited to get some more destination weddings in the books!

How would you describe your style?
My style follows a ethereal, fairytale vibe. I like to think each session shows what it would be like to step inside a painting, while retaining a photographic quality as well. I’m a sucker for the dramatic look! While each wedding or session’s photos are as unique as those who are in the shot, my work retains the same quality as all sessions before it. You can always expect to have crisp, beautifully colored works of art that will display well on all walls, whether at your home or your social media!

Can I see a wedding from start to finish?
Of course! If you would like to see a full wedding gallery before booking, please send an email via the contact tab at the top of the page, and I would be more than happy to send links to some of my previous weddings.

Do you do newborn photos?
I am not currently booking newborn sessions, but have a list of other photographers I rent to refer these types of sessions to. I will be happy to send you recommendations of some of the best newborn photographers in your area!

What is a consultation like?
I like to do in-person consultations, whether over coffee or ice cream, to get to know the wedding couple or bride a little better to decide if we are a good fit for one another. We want to be sure that we will be able to work together as a team to get the best photos possible on your big day. I will meet up with you, deliver your personalized wedding welcome package, and continue into signing the wedding contract and planning out how to get the most from your images on your big day!

Are you insured?
Many venues require photographers to carry insurance and I have no problem providing proof of both liability insurance and equipment insurance. If this comes up when booking your venue, feel free to contact me and I can send it over!

How do you choose second shooters/photographers?
I help run a photography group on Facebook called Eastern Kentucky Photographers, which also includes members throughout the state of Kentucky and into Ohio. When I choose a second shooter, I send an inquiry to the group to find out who has the date available, and cull through those who would like to take on the job. I check into which photographers work best for your wedding in particular based on their personality, portfolio, and equipment.

Can I see reviews for your services?
Yes! I am listed with Wedding Wire and have several reviews from past brides if you would like to check them out!

Are our digital files watermarked?
No, the final photos you receive will not have a logo or watermark on them. I do request that if you post online or to social media, that you give credit in the description to help others find me!

Do we get to keep our negatives?
Digital negatives, known as RAW files, are not delivered to clients.

Can we edit our photos?
In order to keep editing cohesive, and consistent with my brand, I do not release RAW files, and do not allow further editing after images have been delivered. I will work with you as much as possible to ensure the photos you receive are consistent with the photos you have viewed on my website or in my portfolio. I want you to choose me based on my style, and because you like my work. Trust me to deliver the best images I am able to!

Do you pose photos?
I do provide some direction, but I allow the emotion to come through. I will coach you through some of my favorite poses, but it is up to you to bring the love! I’ll do anything I can to make you feel comfortable and relaxed in order to turn out the best photo. I want the images to reflect who you are, and I will do everything in my power to achieve it.

What do I need to do to secure my wedding date?
I require a retainer fee equal to 50% of your package price, with the remainder due one month prior to your wedding date. You are welcome to make payments of any amount at any time until this date, but the full balance must be paid by then. I also require a signed contract that I can email you to look over before we meet for the consultation. If you have any questions at any point, you are welcome to inquire.

What kind of gear/equipment do you use?
I am a Canon girl! My main body is a Canon 5D Mark IV, and my backup body a Canon 6D. I use a variety of lenses, but my absolute favorite I own is my 70-200 2.8. I’m versed in both natural and artificial lighting and bring both just in case the need arises. I also bring backup equipment in the event something malfunctions.

Do you have any restrictions for other cameras/devices at our session/wedding?
For non-wedding sessions, I prefer no cameras, cell phones, or other devices be present. For weddings, I prefer no cameras in the aisle so I can get the bride walking and other vital shots without distractions. I also do not allow other cameras for formal photos, so that all eyes are on my camera, and to minimize distractions. Cameras and phones are welcome for dancing photos, reception, cake, bouquet/garter toss, etc.
